Learn about "The Tulsa School": Nov. 5-7

Join us Nov 5-7 for a conference on “The Tulsa School,” a group of four poets and artists from Tulsa who traveled to New York City in the early 1960s and became part of the internationally acclaimed “New York School.” The conference will bring the two surviving members of the group, Ron Padgett and Dick Gallup, back to Tulsa for a weekend of scholarly panels, roundtable discussions, and poetry readings. Also featured as key participants will be the family of Ted Berrigan the eldest and erstwhile leader of the “Tulsa School.” (That's Berrigan on the far right in the photo at left, taken in 1969 with Allen Ginsberg.) His sons Edmund and Anselm and wife Alice Notley are renowned poets and are editors of The Collected Poems of Ted Berrigan. The conference will gather over 30 participants from all over the world to discuss Tulsa’s role in this influential movement and period.
