Get Published!

Check out this message from the University of Central Oklahoma's, Shay Rahm-Barnett (see image at right), the executive editor of the New Plains Review:

The ScissorTALE Review is an online journal seeking quality poetry, short fiction, and creative non-fiction for its Summer 2010 issue. We are accepting submissions from all STUDENTS currently attending a college or university in the Great Plains area. We consider the Great Plains area to consist of the following states: Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming. All submissions are automatically eligible for the $100.00 editors’ prize.

We are interested in poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction that is thoughtful and compelling, but otherwise we do not have any specific guidelines for style or subject matter for this issue. Please note that short fiction and creative non-fiction must be between 1,500 and 4,000 words. Each piece needs to be complete – not a chapter of an ongoing work.

We do accept simultaneous submissions. We do not accept previously published work. Your submission will not be considered if you submit more than 3 poems or fail to follow the word limit guidelines. By submitting, you give us permission to publish your work online. At this time, we do not pay upon publication. For this issue, we will be accepting 30-50 submissions.

If your work is selected for the current issue, we will ask for verification of your attendance to a college or university in the Great Plains area before publishing. We will then ask for biographical information.

Submit your poetry, fiction, or creative non-fiction by April 30, 2010 to scissortalereview@gmail.com. Allow 6-8 weeks for response. Attach submissions in either Word (.doc or .docx) or Rich Text Format (.rtf). Please include the type of submission (poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction) in the subject line.
